     By the authority of the Central Avenue Baptist Church (New Heights Baptist Church), Oklahoma City, the church was organized on Friday, December 11, 1953 as Mt. Hermon Missionary Baptist Church, Midwest City, Oklahoma. The following were charter members:

     Mt. Hermon Missionary Baptist Church voted to affiliate with the South Canadian Association, Missionary Baptist Association of Oklahoma and the North American Baptist Association. Bro. Jim Wilson was elected as the first pastor by annual call. He was paid $25 per month.

     On June 10, 1954, the church purchased a lot located 2 blocks south of Reno St, in the section known as the Highland addition for $400. The address was 6512 SE 5th St., Midwest City.

     On Nov. 2, 1955, Bro. Jim Wilson submitted his resignation.

     On Dec. 7, 1955, the church called Bro. George Bourque as pastor. He remained as pastor until Feb. 4, 1956.

     On June 17, 1956, Bro. Bob Hendley accepted the pastorate of the church at a salary of $100 per month. The church minutes stated that the church building had been paid off.

     On Apr. 3, 1957, the church changed her name to Highland Park Baptist Church.

     Bro. Bob Hendley resigned on June 25, 1958.

     On Sep. 21, 1958, Bro. Chapman Davis was called as pastor.

     Associational letter for September 1959 through 1960, gave the 1960 membership as 41.

     On Aug. 20, 1961, Bro. Chapman Davis resigned as pastor to accept the pastorate of Travis Street Baptist Church in Jacksonville, TX.

     On Oct. 4, 1961, Bro. Ted Mc Casling accepted the pastorate of the church. At that time, the church voted to call a pastor from September 1 to September 1 each year.

     On July 3, 1963, the Church voted to buy the lot adjoining the property for $500 down and $500 to be paid later.

     On June 20, 1965, Bro.Ted Mc Casling submitted his resignation as pastor.

     On Oct. 31, 1965, the church called Bro. Gilford H. Vaughn as pastor. On Feb. 6, 1966, the church purchased the house and lot adjoining the church property for a parsonage.

     On Mar. 10, 1968, Bro. Gilford Vaughn resigned as pastor to accept a church at Leggett, TX.

     On Sep. 4, 1968, Bro. Joe Stiner was unanimously called as pastor. Under his leadership, many improvements were made to the church facilities and property.

     Bro. Joe B. Stiner resigned as pastor of the church, effective March 31, 1971.

     June 16, 1971.  The church extended a unanimous call to Bro. Raymond (Bud) Christian as pastor and he accepted.

     July 1, 1973. The Church voted to purchase of 5 acres of land at Cardinal and Douglas.

     Dec. 9, 1973.  A Twentieth Birthday service was held, with 132 in attendance.

     Mar. 6, 1974. The church voted to drill a well on the church property at Cardinal and Douglas, level the land, and sell six walnut trees.

     Apr. 3, 1974. The church voted to build a building with 8,270 sq. ft., 245 seating capacity auditorium, and 14 classrooms.

     June 30, 1974. The last service was held in the building at 6512 SE 5th St. There were 105 in attendance. Following the morning services, 51 traveled enmasse by buses to the Cardinal and Douglas property for a brief dedication service.

     After July 1, 1974, the church met at Country Estates Elementary School until their new building was completed. The rent was $1 per hour per room, or $28 per week.

     Jan. 20, 1975.  Bro. R.J. Hackbarth, Charter  Member died.

     July 23, 1975. Bro. Bud Christian resigned as pastor.

     Bro. Ralph Eberle was called as pastor. He accepted the position, effective Sept. 14, 1975.

     Apr. 18, 1976. The first service held in the new building at 600 N. Douglas. There were 160 in attendance, with 43 visitors.

     June 20, 1976,  Lonnie Mitchell, Timmy Willingham, Randy Trotter, Melissa Trotter, Sheri Rodgers, Keith Rogers and Debra Lovelady were the first baptisms in the new building.

     Aug. 29, 1976.  The church held dedication services for the new church facilities at 600 N. Douglas.

     Feb. 7, 1977. Bro. W.B. Curren died. 

    Mar. 6, 1977.  Bro. Ralph Eberle resigned as pastor.

     June 22, 1977.  Bro. Dale Harrell accepted the pastorate of the church. He resigned on May 27, 1979.

     Feb.  23, 1979. Sis. Jimmie Lee Beal died.

     Nov. 6, 1979. Bro. Terry Walker accepted the pastorate of the church.

     Aug. 5, 1981.  The church called Bro. Allen Peterson as Youth Director.

     Oct. 25, 1981.  Bro. Terry Walker submitted his resignation as pastor.

     Jan. 28, 1982.  Bro. W.R. Speer accepted the call as pastor.

     May 6, 1982.  Bro. Benny Green was called as Music Director.

     Bro. Kelley Gammill accepted the call as Associate Pastor, effective Oct. 12, 1983.

     Apr. 28, 1984.  church voted to make two building plans available for church members to view. They were to vote for one plan on May 22. The church set a goal of raising $50,000 before starting the building program.

     Dec. 16, 1984.  Bro. W.R. Speer submitted his resignation. The church called Associate Pastor, Bro. Kelley Gammill as pastor. He accepted the call, effective Jan. 1, 1985.

     Sep. 25, 1985.  The church elected a committee to present a plan and estimates for expansion of the south end of the building.

     July 24, 1986.  Former pastor, W.R. "Benny" Speer, died.

     Jan. 23, 1988.  Sis. Beverly Ann Cottrell died.

     Dec. 3, 1988.  A 35th anniversary celebration was held at the church in the new fellowship hall.

     Aug. 29, 1989.  Sis. Alice Pearl Potter died.

     Nov. 11, 1990.  Bro. W.O. Ginn, Sr. died.

     Apr. 6, 1991.  Sis. Lillie Hackbarth, Charter member, died.

     Jan. 1, 1992.  Sis. Loena Newell died.

     1992.  Unknown date.  Bro. Murle Slover, Ordained deacon, died.

     In October 1992, Bro. Kelly Gammel resigned as pastor.

     May 16, 1993. Bro. Dale Blount accepted the pastorate of the church.

     In June 1993, a storm hit the church downing several trees and damaging the church sign.

     Bro. Dale Blount resigned as pastor, effective Apr. 3, 1994.

     May 8, 1994.  Bro. Russell Rhodes was called as part time pastor.

     Bro. Russell Rhodes submitted his resignation as pastor, effective November 24, 1996.

     Bro. Jesse Spurlock accepted the call as pastor, effective Jan. 5, 1997.

     April 18, 1997, Church marquee sign that had been damaged in the June 1993 storm was repaired.

     May 31, 1997.  Sis. Lola Ginn died.

     Feb. 17, 1998.  Sis. Erma Mae Price, Charter member, died.

     Apr. 11, 1998.  Sis. Marie Florence Dickerson died.

     Apr. 14, 1998.  Bro. Corney "Carl" Newell died.

     March 15, 1998, the church voted to resume the midweek services, effective April 18, 1998.  (These had been cancelled at some earlier unknown date).  Voted to have a revival with Bro. Harold Hodges as evangelist.  Voted to replace tile in the bathrooms and in the kitchen.  Voted to replace the second microwave in the kitchen.  Voted to purchase a new copier machine for the church office.

    April 8, 1998, voted to resume receiving Sunday evening offerings.

     May 6, 1998, new book shelves were purchased and installed in the church library.

     July 8, 1998.  Recognized John Lee as an active Deacon.

     August 5, 1998.  Replaced one of the air conditioner units that had quit ($1,475).

     December 6, 1998. Celebrated our forty-fifth anniversary.

     December 27, 1998.  Licensed Alan Muehlenweg to the ministry.

     January 13, 1999. Church  purchased a 1996 Ford 15 passenger van ($14,150).

      January 26, 1999.  Sis. Edith I. Webber died.

     April 7, 1999.  Church bought 125 new Baptist Hymnals.,

     November 10, 1999, The work to bring the rest rooms and facilities up to American’s With Disabilities standards had been completed.   Recognized Bro. Keith Prescott's ordination as an active Deacon.

     November 28, 1999.  Bro. Jay and Sis. Wanda Almon donated their organ to the church.

     Apr. 7, 2000.  Sis. Luisa Jane Brazell died.

      November 2000.  Canvas awning over the front walkway from the parking lot was installed at a cost of $2,000.

      March 28, 2001.  New teacher tables purchased for Sunday School classrooms.

      June 13, 2001.  Voted to begin quarterly business meetings.

    July 5, 2001.  Bro. Cody & Sis. Barbara Layman's daughter, Joyce McGovern, died unexpectedly.  They made a contribution for a new sound booth for the church in her memory.  A fund was established and the sound booth was completed and fully paid for in August 2002.

     September 16, 2001. Bro. Shelby Wren and Bro. Bill Veazey were ordained to the office of deacon.

     October 10, 2001.  Voted to discontinue quarterly business meetings and resume the monthly meetings.

     November 14, 2001.  Bro. Shelby and Sis. Evelyn Wren donated a 29 foot semi-trailer to be used for storage. 

      Dec. 14. 2001.  Sis. Mildred Lorene Grall died. 

     February 13, 2002.  Highland Park gave $2,337.90 to the annual Walk of Faith this year.  Our church received a plaque from Lifeword for being the highest contributing church in Oklahoma.

      Oct. 9, 2002.  Bro. William "Cody" Layman died. 

      Jan. 29, 2003.  Bro. Ernest Lee Brooks, Ordained Deacon, died.

      March 17, 2003.  Sis. Settie E. Bass died.

     Sunday, December 7, 2003.  The church celebrated her 50th Anniversary. Bro. Kevin George, a former member of the Highland Park Baptist youth group and now pastor of Cornerstone Baptist Church, Altus, brought the homecoming message. There were approximately 100 in attendance.

     June 13, 2004.  Bro. Harry Spry died.

     Sep. 6, 2004.  Sis. Nettie I. Rice died.

     Feb. 2, 2005.  Sis. Agnes Ollie Stout died.

     March 6, 2005.  In a matter of special business, Highland Park Baptist Church voted to assume the sponsorship of New Heights Missionary Baptist Mission, Ardmore, OK. when her sponsoring church, First Missionary Baptist Church, Healdton, OK., left the BMA. The mission members united with Highland Park by letters on April 24, 2005.

    May 6, 2005.   The WMA of Highland Park reported they had raised $1,312.11 from the garage sale for the WMA project goal for The Baptist's Children's Home.

     August 20, 2005.  Highland Park Baptist Church ordained Bro. David Dwight Dawson to the gospel ministry to serve as missionary pastor of New Heights Baptist Mission, Ardmore, OK.

     September 10, 2005.  Because of hail damage, the roof of Highland Park Church facility was replaced with a 30 year warranty on the replacement.

      June 17, 2006.  Bro. Orlando Gene Ginn died.

    June 3, 2007.  Highland Park Baptist Church ordained Bro. Richard Patton and Bro. Carl Barnes to the office of Deacon. Bro. Richard Patton to serve as deacon for Highland Park Baptist Church, Midwest City and Bro. Carl Barnes to serve as deacon for New Heights Baptist Mission, Ardmore, OK.

     October 10, 2007.  Highland Park voted to join with New Heights Mission to help pay off their $33,328 indebtedness to the BMA of OK Land Lot Fund.

      October 17, 2007.  Sis. Opal Franks died.

      Nov. 23, 2007.  Nellos Joe Stout died.

     December 2007.  An ice storm broke limbs out of the tree next to the fellowship hall, resulting in serious damage to the roof. 

     March 18, 2008.   Bro. Jabez "Jay" W. Almon, Ordained and retired pastor, died.

    August 20, 2008.  The porch and walkway of the church were repaired and a wheelchair ramp installed from the walkway to the porch.

     September 7, 2008. The church voted to refinance New Heights' loan to the BMA of OK Lot Loan Fund in the amount of $17,173.75, by borrowing the money from the BMA of Central OK Lot Loan Fund.  This loan was approved by the trustees of the BMA of Central OK Lot Loan Fund.  New Heights continued to pay the note.  The note was paid off with the July 2009 payment.

     Feb. 21, 2009.  Bro. Danny Myron Landreth died.

     May 9, 2009.  Sis. Dorotha Underwood died.

     July 8, 2009.  The church voted to replace the carpet throughout the building for a cost of $9,700. 

     November 14, 2009. Highland Park Baptist Church organized New Heights Missionary Baptist Mission, Ardmore, into a Scriptural New Testament Church, with fifteen charter members. The name of the new church is New Heights Missionary Baptist Church, Ardmore, OK.

     April 14, 2010.  Church purchased 30 Heavenly Highway Hymnals for use in conjunction with our Baptist Hymnals.

     May 16, 2010.  Church voted to purchase a storage pod to store the church lawn mower and equipment.

     July 14, 2010.  Sis. Mattie Black donated a Cemetery plot, located in Arlington Memorial Gardens, to the church to be used or donated as needed.  Deed is recorded in the church name and is located in the church safe.

     September 15, 2010.  Voted to purchase nine new fire extinguishers for the church, to replace the older ones who were past their expiration dates.

     October 13, 2010.  Church voted to support one Seminary Student for twelve month at the BMA Seminary in the Philippines, where Bro. Doyle Moore is the Seminary President.

     November 10, 2010.  The canvas awning over the front walkway of the church was replaced with a blue metal awning at a cost of $2,150.   The church voted to give a new Bible to each individual who is saved and follows the Lord in Scriptural Baptism by the authority of Highland Park Baptist Church.

     March 31, 2011.  Thieves stole three of the outside air conditioner units from the south end on the east side of the church building. These were replaced. Security lighting was increased and steel cages installed to secure the outside air conditioner units. New Heights Baptist Church, Ardmore, gave our church $1,000 to help with the expenses of the replacement of the air conditioner units.

     Sept. 11, 2009.   Notified that Bro. John Marx had died.

     Nov. 30, 2010.  Sis. Gloria Joanne White died.

     July 18, 2011.  Sis. Wanda Lee Almon died.

    October 12, 2011.  Church voted to send $100 per month to the Trucking In Christ Ministries.

     October 18, 2011.  Bro. Ira Doyle Westfall died.

     November 9, 2011.  The baptistery steps had been repaired and indoor/outdoor carpet was installed in the baptistery dressing rooms.  New metal partitions were installed in the dressing rooms.

    May 16, 2012.  A volley ball court was constructed on the east side of the church building.

    July 2, 2012.  Bro. Richard Patton, our only ordained Deacon, died.  He was buried in his U.S. Marine Corps uniform, and a Marine Corps Honor Guard, honoring his service and Purple Heart, received from service in Viet Nam.  A plaque in his memory was placed in the vestibule of the church.

     July 21, 2012.  Bro. Robert David Wright died.

    August 8, 2012.  Voted to pay the youth director $100 per week beginning September 1.

      September 12, 2012.  The drinking fountain in the hallway was replaced.  This had been installed with the construction of the original building in 1976.

    September 23, 2012.  Highland Park Baptist Church assumed the sponsorship of the Trucking in Christ Ministries from Pleasant Hill Baptist Church, Blanchard, OK.  Bro. Barry McLead continued as the chaplain of that ministry.  

     October 12, 2012.  Church purchased a 4 X 6 foot covered trailer to be used for youth encampment and other such church outings.

    November 26, 2012.  A new computer and printer was donated to the church.  Voted to have internet access through AT&T.

     December 26, 2012.  The church received a check from the Oklahoma State Treasurer, Unclaimed Property Division, in the amount of $2172.21. 

     February 27, 2013.  The church voted to have Carol's Sign Company replace the church marquee sign.   

     March 13, 2013.  The church set aside Bro. Jeremy Dick for a period of six months for ordination to the Gospel Ministry.  Following his ordination, that he be called as Associate Pastor of Highland Park Baptist Church.  He was ordained to the Gospel Ministry on Saturday, November 11, 2013.

     June 8, 2013.  The church marquee sign was replaced by Carol's Signs at a cost of $5,400.

    November 10, 2013.  Bro. Ronald Spurlock had completed the installation seven ceiling fans in the sanctuary.

    November 13, 2013.  The church officially recognized Bro. Jeremy Dick as the Associate Pastor of Highland Park Baptist Church.

    December 7, 2013.  Bro. Allen Laning died.

    December 15, 2013. The church held their 60 th anniversary homecoming service.  There were 74 in attendance.

    January 29, 2014.  Bro. Rick Lee Cotter died.

     April 15, 2014.  Sis. Joyce Laning died.

      October 31, 2014.  Bro. Jesse Spurlock resigned as pastor and was designated as Pastor Emeritus.  The church called Bro. Zach Bowen as the 17th to serve as pastor of Highland Park Baptist Church.

     December 7, 2014. The church called Bro. Taylor Painter as the Youth Director of Highland Park.  His duties began on December 17, 2014.

     March 2, 2015.  Sis. Barbara Ann McLead died.

     August 31, 2015.  Bro. Lewis Wayne Harms died.

   September 27, 2015.  The church ordained our Pastor Bro. Zach Bowen to the Gospel Ministry.  Because of his connection with New Heights Baptist Church, OKC, the ordination service was conducted in their facilities.  (Significant note:  New Heights Baptist Church, originally named Central Baptist Church, OKC, was the sponsoring church for Highland Park Baptist Church in our organization in 1953.)

   December 7, 2014. The church called Bro. Taylor Painter as Youth Director at a salary of $100 per week.   His first services as youth director is Wednesday, December 17, 2014.

    January 14, 2015.  The church voted  to start a budget for Youth Activities with $100 per month.

    May in 2015.  The church replaced the medal entry doors into the sanctuary with glass doors.

    October 4, 2015.  The church voted to modify the podium platform, vestibule, and bathrooms of the church.   The pastor's study was also modified.

    November 15, 2015.  The church purchased a 2007 Chevrolet Van from Southgate to replace our 1996 Ford Church van.

     February 28, 2016.  Voted to construct a barn to house the church van.

     April 24, 2016. Sis. Dorothy Mae Harms died.

     May 15, 2016.  Bro. Zach Bowen resigned as pastor.

      May 27, 2016.  The church van barn was constructed and completed.

     June 15, 2016.  The church voted to call Bro. Jared Roddam as our pastor.  He accepted and his first service was Wed., June 22, 2016.

       July 24, 2016.  Bro. Taylor Painter submitted his resignation as the Youth Director.

       Jan. 8, 2017. Bro. Jared Roddam resigned as pastor.

       Jan. 11, 2017.  The Church designated Bro. Jesse Spurlock to be the interim pastor.

        Feb. 8, 2017.   The Church paid off the 2007 Chevrolet.  Adopted the revised and updated Church Constitution and Bylaws.

         March 8, 2017.  The church unanimously voted to call Bro. John Jones as our pastor.  He accepted and his first service was Sun., March 12, 2017.

          August 7, 2017.  Sis. Constance "Connie" Luce died.

          August 31, 2017.  Sis. Lelia Mae Spurlock died.

          April 5, 2018.  Chaplain Barry McLead (Trucking in Christ Ministries) died.

          May 8, 2019.  The church changed the midweek service hours from 7 p.m. to 6 p.m.

          June 1, 2019. Bro. James "Jim" Alton Cline died.
